Which cheese is included?
The updated FDA/company notice dated October 15 identifies Family Farmstead Dairy Raw Mild Cheddar Cheese in eight-ounce packages, with lot and best-by both marked 7/22/27. No other Family Farmstead products are included in this notice.
The corrected distribution list includes New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, and Massachusetts. Other states may have received product through downstream distributors. Do not rule it out solely because you live elsewhere.
What changed in the notice?
The FDA page corrects both the distribution information and the E. coli types, now identified as O26:H11 and O45:H2. Older coverage may contain narrower distribution details. The announcement reported no illnesses at the time; that is a dated statement, not a live illness count.
What should you do?
Do not taste or eat the affected cheese. Discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. For product questions, contact Family Farmstead Dairy at 607-397-4044, weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern.
If you develop severe or bloody diarrhea or other concerning symptoms after eating it, contact a healthcare professional promptly. The CDC’s E. coli symptoms guidance explains when to seek care.
